In 2018, Primer Group of Companies constructed the Primer Distribution Center (PDC) in Cupang, Muntinlupa, with a 5,000 sqm office and warehouse space, and an additional 10,000 sqm for storage. Primer Group's commitment to sustainability is highlighted by the attainment of a Green Mark Certification. This certification, established by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in Singapore, is a notable green building rating system. This achievement underscores Primer Group's dedication to environmentally responsible practices as PDC was designed for energy efficiency, incorporating rainwater harvester and natural air flow, LED lighting, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to reduce electricity consumption.

The Green Mark Certification Scheme is a comprehensive framework specifically crafted for assessing the overall environmental performance of both new and existing buildings. It aims to promote sustainable design, as well as foster best practices in construction and operations within buildings. This certification process is pivotal in recognizing and encouraging structures that align with environmentally conscious principles, a sentiment that echoes Primer Group's steadfast commitment to sustainability.

The green features incorporated into PDC extend beyond energy efficiency. Rainwater harvesting and filtration systems provide a non-potable water source for sanitary drains, and all building and operational waste is stored and sorted for recycling. Throughout the certification process, collaboration among stakeholders was key. According to Edward Evangelista, Primer’s Administrative Services Manager, the building's architecture adheres to green standards, ensuring the preservation of existing landscape elements while meeting security and safety requirements. Electrical designers optimized lighting efficiency, while mechanical design focused on minimizing refrigerant use in the Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) layout. Fire safety measures include the use of HCFC fire extinguishers, free from ozone-depleting substances.

Despite the challenge of obtaining Green Mark Certification, PDC prioritized compliance from the start of construction, resulting in a smoother application process. Monthly monitoring ensures adherence to environmentally safe practices, including the use of LED lighting and natural ventilation. G-Energy provided support during the certification process, guiding the Primer team through energy conservation plans and audits.

Looking ahead, Primer Group of Companies remains committed to sustainability. All Primer-owned facilities will pursue Green Mark Certification where applicable, with ongoing applications for the Workplays Building and the completion of the Chiller plants process targeting a Gold Certification. This dedication to green building practices aligns with Primer's broader mission of environmental responsibility and sustainable operations.
