The Senior Network Administrator's primary function is to manage LAN/WAN performance and maintain LAN/WAN security. Installs, maintains, and monitors the operation of the local area network. Evaluates vendor products in hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment and recommend purchases consistent with short and long-term objectives. Recommends and implements LAN policies and standards, ensuring adherence to security procedures. Maintains contact with outside organizations in the maintenance, service, and/or purchase of the LAN. Trains users on LAN operations and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Acquires, installs and maintains the corporate local/wide area network
- Assists in presenting to management, recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software and telecommunications equipment.
- Assists with budget recommendations to Directors and Department Heads
- Analyzes future needs for acquisition.
- Manages LAN accounts, security and network performance
- Establishes and implements LAN policies, procedures and standards, ensuring conformance with information systems and objectives.
- Develops and writes procedures for installation, use and solving problems of communications hardware and software.
- Instructs users in the use of network systems/equipment.
- Plans and Implements Disaster Recovery Procedures
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer information systems, computer science or related area of study
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in network administration.
- Basic written and oral communication skills.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of IT operations.
- Basic interpersonal skills.
