The Merchandising Manager maintains a continuous and evolving merchandise program for the brands for distribution and maintains an effective and efficient merchandising policy and procedure to sustain a realistic but apt timetable for store distribution and acting pro actively to hasten merchandise movement and achieve the GP mandated by the management.
Responsibilities
Merchandise Planning
- Formulates overall sales and product plan for the unit per category ensuring set targets are align with SBU targets
- Discusses and coordinates with brand person on expanding network of distribution for products
- Reviews and approves OTB/purchase budgets and guides merchandising team in formulating the detailed plans for the brands/products per category
- Ensures compliance to merchandising policies & procedures
Inventory Management
- Monitors inventory levels and undertake appropriate measures to ensure that inventory coverage is within mandated levels
- Analyzes product performance, presents evaluation results to Management and recommends effective resolutions for issues
- Discusses and coordinates with marketing department on promotions to improve product sell-through
People Management
- Initiates staff meeting with Merchandising Team to address concerns, communicate expectations, formulate strategies and assess the progress and timeliness of ongoing programs
- Monitors the compliance of staff to company policies
- Manages the operations of the merchandising department
- Trains new staff and evaluates their performances
Market Intelligence
- Analyzes current market trends, consumer behavior, competitor product and pricing schemes through market visit, intelligence data and field reports from staff
- Attends trade exhibits and meetings with principals/suppliers as assigned
Monitoring and Control
- Approves all Purchase Orders ensuring that purchases fall within the set budgets and styles ordered and their prices are suitable for the local market
- Approves Price List prepared by ensuring that GM goals are met
- Approves any other pertinent documents and forms related to the department and its staff (i.e. Remittance Advice, Request for Payments, etc.)
- Ensures timely and accurate payment to suppliers
- Monthly review of sales & inventory performance per brand
- Submits and assess monthly purchase plan quantity to Supply Chain Head for warehouse capacity planning
- Submits monthly purchase plan value to AVP- Merchandising for budget monitoring and Finance Department for financial planning
- Ensures resolutions for the following are implemented
- clearance of defective/obsolete items
- reconciliation of merchandising initiated sale event sites
- damage and shortage claims from suppliers
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or any related course
- Work Experience: At least 5 years work experience in merchandising, marketing, and retail business
- Managerial/Supervisory Experience: At least 3 years in a managerial capacity
