Primer Group of Companies Earned a Place In GrandPhilippines’ Top 100 Graduate Employers of 2021

“How am I supposed to find a job if every company I apply in is looking for someone with years of experience?”

This is a common question most fresh graduates ask themselves when trying to establish a career. It is no secret that most companies in the Philippines hire and look for applicants who already have years of experience behind them. This leaves a smaller area of opportunities for the ever-growing population of unemployed fresh graduates.  

With this being a popular question among new graduates, Primer Group of Companies held their heads up high when they emerged as top 11 in the retail sector and top 44 overall, in GradPhilippines’ Top 100 Graduate Employers of 2021. The award is given to brilliant companies who employ early talents. This award is known to many companies as “one of the most sought-after employer awards in the Asia Pacific region.” 

 

 

This award would not have been given to Primer if it weren’t for Primer’s exceptional and open-minded talent acquisition team who believes that hiring fresh graduates is essential for Primer’s growth. “Yes, I believe hiring fresh graduates are important. These profiles can share new insights and solutions in a creative or innovative way, that could potentially help our company in the long run” said Kristina (Tina) Dianko, Head of the Talent Acquisition Team.

 

 

Sharing the same insights as Tina, her team also believes in the strength and capabilities of having fresh graduates in Primer. “There is so much hidden potential with fresh graduates – it’s just a matter of understanding their interests and passions and matching it to the right leaders and teams” shared Ciarah Pacheco.  Agreeing, Jay Jay Bartolome added “New graduates often have good personalities and character. They’re willing to learn and since they have no experience yet, they can easily be trained, which makes it easier for us to hire them.”

As Primer belongs to the fast-paced industry of retail, hiring fresh graduates also help with the business as these applicants belong to their target demographic. Christie Ilano, also a part of Primer’s talent acquisition team, states that “fresh graduates represent the young generation, and they comprise a huge share of our market. Who would know the trends better than the younger generation?”

With the help of Primer’s talent acquisition team, many of Primer’s current employees were hired as fresh graduates. With Primer being a successful company, it has shown that hiring fresh graduates was a good idea and it has definitely helped with Primer’s growth. Bringing in future ‘pros’ is a good way to balance the experienced employees with a newer and younger perspective.
