Luggage from The Travel Club carry hope for OFWs

September 2, 2019

It is not uncommon in the Philippines for a parent to work abroad to fulfill dreams of providing a better life for their family. However, being an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) has its challenges, both emotionally and financially.

There is the burden of distance from loved ones for extended periods, while also adjusting to a new environment, culture and different people. This is on top of gathering enough money to fulfill financial requirements such as agency fees, plane tickets, lodging, among others just to be able to work abroad.

Knowing the struggle that every OFW goes through before beginning their venture abroad, The Travel Club, in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and with the help of Primer Group of Companies’ corporate social responsibility team, has been providing luggage to OFWs over the past years to help alleviate the expenses on travel essentials and to boost their morale as they enter a new chapter in their lives.

Most recently, luggage were deployed to beneficiaries on August 5, 2019 during OFWs’ Pre-departure Orientation Seminar.

“Good quality products are investments for OFWs abroad; [thus, their new luggage from The Travel Club] will save them a lot of money since they are given a quality product that can last for many years. Having the right travel essentials gives confidence to OFWs who are going abroad since they also would like to present their best to their employers and their future co-workers. It also gives them the peace of mind that their belongings will stand the test of time since they know their travel essentials are quality products,” says a representative from OWWA, the lead government agency that protects and promotes the welfare of OFWs and their dependents.

Through the partnership of The Travel Club and OWWA, over 350 luggage have been given to OFWs, including those who are first time OFWs and those bound for the Middle East.

This program is made possible by The Travel Club Trade-in Sale where customers can exchange their old luggage for discounts on brands carried by the said concept store.

More luggage coming from the 2nd leg of their trade-in sale will be provided to first time OFWs in the coming weeks.
