In the middle of the work day, seven Primer Group employee-moms were asked “what does it mean to be a mother?”; and as soon as they hear these words, the stiff and serious facial expression from being too focused on their work was quickly replaced with bright eyes and enthusiasm as they giddily shared stories about their motherhood experience.

Here are the inspiring answers of KaPrimer moms:

“Immeasurable joy. Pag-uwi sa bahay, kahit anong pagod mo, mawawala. [All the stress goes away upon seeing them at home.] It’s like magic that erases all your worries away. They make you forget all the problems in the world.”

Vicky Zoleta

“Fulfillment. Fulfillment of being a woman. Fullfilment because motherhood is being everything in one. You play different personas- from mother, best friend, mentor, movie buddy, playmate, or even enemy (when you’re scolding them hahaha). It’s challenging yet fulfilling.”

Hazel Gonzales
Corporate Communications, Mother of two (ages 21 and 16)

“You’re ready to get out of your comfort zone just to give the best for your kids, even if it means sacrifice.”

Anna Montemayor

“‘Super Mom’ kasi lahat, from first month na dinadala yung baby to nine months, hanggang pagdating sa bahay, siya [a mother] pa rin ang nag-aasikaso , from food to lahat ng needs. Pati time ng mother, nasa anak kahit nasa work.

[A superhero, because from the time the child was conceived to when you have to come home to them, a mother has to take care of their food, of all their needs. Even a mother’s time is dedicated for their children, even when she’s at work.]”

Jackie Mempin
Admin General Services, Mother of one (age 6)

“Being a mother means being selfless. It’s simply loving your children more than loving yourself. ‘Yung parang kalahati na ng buhay mo, naka-center na sa anak. Inuuna mo yung kapakanan niya. Dami kong ina-anticipate na mga bagay kasi gusto ko na safe siya all the time. Gusto ko na comfortable siya lagi. I also make sure that I give time for her and for my family. Hindi sapat ang materyal na bagay, kaya I make sure na may time. It’s all about balance.

[It’s like half of your life is centered on your child. You prioritize her well-being. I anticipate a lot of things all the time to make sure that she’s safe and always comfortable. I also make sure that I give time for her and for my family. Material things are not enough, so I make sure that I make time for them. It’s all about balance.]”

Sol Tanquintic
Housekeeping, Mother of two (ages 21 and 15)

“Ang pagiging ina ay may kaakibat na responsibilidad na mapalaking mabuting tao at mapagtapos ng pag-aaral ang kanyang mga anak.

[Being a mother comes with the responsibility of properly bringing up her children to become good persons, and giving them the opportunity to study and graduate.]

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!

We thank you for the light and love you bring to the world.
