Primer Group of Companies Shows its Continuous Support to Singapore Management University’s Mentorship Program

June 15, 2022

A group of graduate students from the Singapore Management University (SMU) met with Primer Group of Companies’ Board of Directors and other company leaders in a forum conducted at the sidelines of the PIML conference in 2016. This sparked the beginning of SMU’s and Primer Group’s continuous collaboration.

In 2017, Primer’s Chief Executive Officer and President, Jimmy Thai joined the league of business leaders from the Philippines in the launch of SMU’s International Advisory Council or “IAC”. The members provide advice and guidance to further develop SMU’s engagement with the Philippines. With Jimmy Thai becoming a part of the IAC, the ties between SMU and Primer has strengthened and this has allowed the two to continue to work together henceforth.

SMU integrates across disciplines to offer a full range of multidisciplinary educational programs.

SMU’s Mentoring Circle, or "TMC", is a peer-to-peer mentoring and networking program that focuses on early professional development between Senior and Junior students in the university.

This program’s goal is to transform individuals into becoming strong, empowered,  people builders. SMU aims to build a future where, through a holistic mentoring program, successive batches of SMU students undergoing this mentoring circle come out consistently better than the preceding ones.

This 2022, to show continuous support in SMU’s efforts to build its international reputation as a premier university in Asia that is internationally recognized for its world class research and distinguished teaching, Primer has sponsored and provided tokens and gifts to SMU’s Mentoring Circle’s participants.

Together with the rest of the IAC, (Jaime Augusto Zóbel de Ayala, Richard L. Lee, Chairman Emeritus,  Jose L. Cuisia Jr., Manuel R. Guillermo, Cesar V. Purisima, Ramon B. Segismundo, Josephine Gotianun-Yap, Kevin Robertson Tang) Primer will continue to fulfill its role in supporting the university’s endeavor to mold the younger generation into becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
